If you’re thinking about taking up nature photography as a hobby, then you first need to understand the different aspects of this field. There is wildlife, animal studies such as water birds, landscape and macro photography.  This suits outdoor recreational activities such as hiking, camping, biking and travel. So if you are the outdoor person then these all combine well with nature and wildlife photography.

Photography Equipment.

Good quality digital camera equipment can be purchased from under £80 and then upwards. One requirement you must consider when buying a camera: It must have a good zoom lens. As your hobby/ interest grows and your budget allows, so more expensive equipment can be added.

SLR cameras allow for a greater creativity through a variety of applications such as a macro or telephoto lens and on camera controls. A greater range of possibilities are possible to capture truly wonderful pictures while exploring the outdoors. Macro photography basically is close up shots where the photo scale is one to one. Suited to flower, still life and insect studies. In nature a macro lens; I find is suited to taking photos of flowers and insects where close up detail is appreciated. Here is some examples of my macro photographs.

Interest in nature photography is growing as cheaper and better quality digital cameras come onto the market and digital awareness grows. Digital photography has opened new doors for nature photographers. Instant image feed back, no process charges, print only the photos worth keeping and image correction, such as red eye removal is easily done, .Those memories now can become a permanently part of you as you add to your collection of nature photos.
